I think it sometimes comes down to just having things pretty around you. Why should our homes look like jail cells?

I think it's great! DH & I rarely eat out, although we used to when we first married. Not only do we save money, but our life is just, well, simpler.

Eating out is what caused us to file bankruptcy almost 11 years ago. Sometimes I feel like it's an addiction for us :)

I don't really enjoy cooking but I don't hate it either, I just have other things I'd rather be doing. We try to limit ourselves to 1 meal a month out. It's difficult though since the activities we belong to go out to eat after events. You miss out in a lot of socializing if you skip those lunches out. Then the doctor visits and trips to church, both of which are 3+ hours away, mean I either have to plan 2 full meals away from home or we cave in to temptation and go out (usually the later). Sigh, it's just so much easier to grab a pizza for $5 than it is to make one.

I love the bit you quoted from Edith Schaeffer's book! It IS important to "be creative in this area to the extent of your talent."

PS Its interesting to see you write about princess and flower child... my princess was my flower child. She's matured considerably since then but at 25 she's still marching to her own drum!

You mean we aren't supposed to serve things off the pans or out of the pots? :)

I'm impressed that you had a vase on the table. Remember that apathy thing? We aren't even making it to the table anymore to eat most nights :(

Good for you! I've found the best way to get into that blogging groove is just to keep doing it, day after day. Even the little things make your creativity stronger!

I agree. It's easy. It's cheap. It's fresh. And you get a different kind of satisfaction when you make your own
